Our work in the training boat is paying off with our first gold of this season in our favorite event, Mixed Senior B (Grand Masters Mixed).
After two nice heat paddles and a handy Masters training run, NWD put it all together in Lane 4 in the final by flying the start and keeping sustained power on through the race to stay in front of a quality field. With race 4 back at Penrith on Sun 15th Jan we do not want to lose our momentum so the message is please turn up for training as much as you can and work on your own personal fitness.Your coaches know what they are doing and work as a team on your training, but we need the paddlers commitment to get these results.
It was Mick’s eyes from the side that led to our rate adjustment in that GM final and great result.
There is no GM team in NSW we need to fear, we have the best sweep and the best strokes, but results don’t happen by magic,
I’m going to say it again: WE MUST TRAIN AND BE FIT.
The other 2 races we entered in with our combined teams with Sudu and Port Hacking resulted in 2nd in the final of Masters Open and 3rd in the women’s masters.
Big thanks to our volunteers Dana, Mick and Rod. Without their involvement, NSWDB won’t let us race. Thanks also to our lolly /fruit organizers and tent transporters.
A truly satisfying day of dragon boat racing.
PS.Coffee run to the zoo this Sat. Christmas theme. All welcome.
