Bei Loon Regatta (March 18, 2017)

On a wet and windy Saturday morning, 21 paddlers fronted up at Rowland Reserve Pittwater for the Bei Loon 8k regatta.

In a 4 boat race Nowra started 4th off at the line at 30 sec intervals  (some 1.5 minutes behind the 1st boat) The challenge was to race over an altered course that involved 2 hairpin turns.

Four laps later in a race of sun/rain and close calls (imagine reverse grid car racing in a parking lot)  Nowra was first across the finish line 2 or 3 boat lengths clear in just over 37 minutes.  A good bush pigs effort!

Some Nowra paddlers backed up with Port Hacking in another race and lead throughout even though strongly challenged by the FFB crew.

Good training with some fun thrown in.

Overall, there were at least 4 times event over the day, with the final result showing Nowra pipped into third place (by one second). First and second placegetters were both in later heats.
