Saturday morning on the river

Now that the weather is warming up, there is not a lot that is better for you than a Saturday morning paddle on the river. Why not join us at 8:15 at Paringa Park (just under the hospital) on the southern shore of the Shoalhaven River? Check out the short video from our November 19 paddle.

About us

First formed in November 2005, Nowra Waterdragons has members from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages and fitness levels. This diverse group has a common passion for dragonboat racing and enjoying each others company.

While the love of racing in dragonboats continues, the club has diversified into other paddle craft such as outrigger canoes.

We train hard for dragonboat competitions; and we also get involved in a diverse range of activities. These include fundraising, promotions, cross-training paddling and, coffee!

The social aspects are also well covered with dinners, parties, shows and spontaneous get togethers for a drink and a barby.

Nowra Waterdragons values teamwork, passion, achievement and friendship. We aim to continually improve through committed training, to grow our club and to support each other in friendship. Our club is based on the foreshore at Paringa Park, Nowra, and trains on the beautiful Shoalhaven River. (Enter Paringa Park opposite #8, Scenic Drive).

Training and Session Times (Dragonboating)

5:15 pm - warm up starts - all paddlers welcome.

5:15 pm - warm up starts - all paddlers welcome.

8:15 am - warm up starts - all paddlers welcome.

If you are bringing along a new paddler or you are a new paddler wishing to join our group, please arrive 10 minutes earlier so that indemnity forms can be signed and safety instructions given prior to warm up.

We train at the Scouts Hall, Paringa Park, Nowra on the Shoalhaven River, rain or shine, except when there is Thunder and Lightning (for safety).

Training sessions are around an hour and a half including warm up and stretch down. You will be most comfortable wearing shorts and a T-shirt in summer and thermals in winter, plus shoes that can get wet. Bring water to avoid dehydration (1 litre or 600ml bottle).

It is helpful if you can arrive in time for warm up. Not only does this help greatly reduce the chances of injury, it also helps our coaches and sweeps determine if a second boat is required.
